Art - Facilities

The Lower Studio is dedicated to ceramic work with kilns, clay storage and prep rooms running off the main tiled workshop. This Lower level also houses a comprehensive Art Library, video monitor, Dark room and Tutorial room with access to external patios which provide safe facilities for sawdust and raku firing.

At the middle level there is a painting studio for Still Life and Life Class connecting to a large general workshop which accommodates two etching presses, plus a small lithographic press and provides facilities for large scale woodcut activity. This open plan arrangement allows younger classes to have a visual understanding of older certificate candidates at work and promotes good studio practice at all levels with ongoing osmosis in terms of scale and technique.

The top floor is a dedicated sixth form studio with stunning views of the school estate and local landscape. The work areas, by use of folding screens, are designed to provide exhibition space for each candidate’s end of term show and moderation.
