Art
“Let your passions be the petrol that drives your art”
Sir Eduardo Paolozzi talking to Strathallan VIth Form 2000
The Art School was opened by Sir Eduardo Paolozzi on 20th of May 2000. The £500,000 investment has provided one of the finest Art Departments in the country with studios that are light, spacious and a delight to work in.
The department aims to create a centre of excellence and provide a clear visual barometer of the creativity active within the school for all pupils, visitors and prospective parents to enjoy. The artworks should all reveal initiative, independence and originality combined with awareness of the importance of cultures past and present in the enrichment of all our lives.
Academic Trips
Each year senior pupils are given the opportunity to participate in a foreign field trip. Strong interdepartmental links exist with Design and Technology and recent trips include Prague, Germany and Italy. These trips provide the basis for coursework response with in-built contextual study. Younger year groups visit a range of sites such as The Dupplin Cross, Anstruther Fisheries Museum and Stirling Castle as well as Scottish National Galleries in order to provide first hand research, enriching sketchbook and final response.
There is a programme of visiting artists and established links with nationally acknowledged Art Schools e.g. Loughborough and Aberystwyth.
Art Activities
Art activities run as part of the School activities programme and we offer out of timetable workshops as well as a sixth form Life Class and portfolio preparation class.
