Biology

We continue to be one of the most popular departments in the school and in the last two years, we have had well over 80 pupils studying biology at sixth form level. This is because of the inspiring teaching staff who engage pupils from an early age.

We enter our best-performing sixth form students into the annual British Biology Olympiad. In 2008, we were the best performing school in Scotland in this competition.

At the end of the summer term, pupils in AS classes have been involved in a collaboration with Val McKay, the school librarian, in producing reviews of the popular science books that are available in the library. The book review is placed in the on-line catalogue available on the school network to encourage other pupils to extend their scientific reading.
