Biology - Staff Details
Mr Jeff Goddard BSc (Hons), PGCE – Head of Biology
Came to Strathallan in 1998. Before teaching, he did research in Tanzania (published in the African Journal of Ecology). He is now a senior examiner in A level Biology and helps to set the Higher Human Biology paper each year. He also coaches rugby, football and cricket and runs the Film Club.
Mr Paul Vallot, BSc (Hons) – Biology Teacher
Came to the school in 1987. A former Housemaster, he is now in charge of the Sixth Form Common Room, and Clay Pigeon Shooting Club. He also coordinates the 'Eco-Schools' scheme. He also teaches PSHE and coaches rugby, hockey & cricket.
Mrs Deirdre Raeside, BSc (Hons), HDE(PG) – Biology Teacher
Has taught at a number of schools both in Scotland and in South Africa. She has also carried out research for the South African Fishing Industry, Medical Research Council and British Heart Foundation. Formerly a Housemistress of Thornbank House. Her special interests are cell biology and biotechnology.
Dr. Brian Cooper, BSc (Hons), PhD – Biology Teacher
Started at Strathallan in 2008, he became a teacher in 2006 after a successful ten year career in research, including work on stem cells and developmental biology. He has a number of publications to his name. He is a member of the British Mountaineering Council and enjoys many other outdoor pursuits.
