Boarders
Each pupil at Strathallan is a member of a House which in itself creates a strong sense of community. Each House incorporates boarders and day pupils and they live as one. It is particularly through the House system that pupils learn about the community and take responsibility. Everyone has a part to play in the life of the House and there are many opportunities to represent the House in Drama, Music, Games, Debating and other activities. Prefects are involved in the organisation of day to day life and the resident Housemaster/Housemistress, and a team of academic tutors, ensure that all pupils receive appropriate support and guidance in all aspects of school life.
There are separate boys and girls senior Houses and the junior House, Riley, has small single sex dormitories. After the first year in the Senior School all pupils have their own single study bedrooms. There are brew rooms and small sitting rooms on each floor and there are common rooms and kitchen facilities in the Houses with daily supplies of bread, milk, butter and jam. There is also wireless network coverage across the campus including the study areas in each boarding house. Pupils have their main meals in the centrally located dining hall.
In addition to the wide range of activities organised on within the school, others are arranged within each House. The School offers over 50 activities which ensures that the pupils do not have a moment to get bored or homesick.
Every day brings a new challenge at Strathallan so please follow the link to a weekly time table which shows you what to expect during the term.
The Housemaster/Housemistress provides the vital link between the parents and the School. Parents are kept informed about their children’s progress and are consulted about the important decisions which are made at various stages during a pupil’s time at school. Parents are always welcome to visit the House and contact the Housemaster/Housemistress. Each House has a Matron on duty during the day and, should there be a need for medical care, a fully equipped purpose built Medical Centre is located centrally on the campus and Perth Royal Infirmary is nearby.
The Medical Centre is staffed by fully qualified Nursing staff. It contains two three-bedded wards, consulting rooms, treatment rooms and a physiotherapy room. Two Doctors, one male, one female, attend the School four times a week. Other specialists and Health Visitors attend when required.
