Chapel

The stated religious ethos of Strathallan is non-denominational. Chaplains to the School have  come from a variety of backgrounds: the present Chaplain was ordained in the Church of England but has wide ecumenical experience.

A short service is held in Chapel every Wednesday and Sunday morning. All pupils who are in School attend these services, which typically consist of prayers for the day, readings, an anthem, hymns and a short homily.

Every third Sunday, Morning Chapel is replaced by a Eucharist celebrated at 9.15pm by the Chaplain, at which attendance is voluntary. Particular services such as Remembrance Day, Carol Services and the leavers’ Valedictory mark the seasons of the year.

Provision is made for Catholic pupils to attend Mass. All are welcome to attend the Eucharist celebrated by the Chaplain, who is in Anglican orders, but may wish to check with their own Church that this is acceptable.

Pupils of all religions are encouraged wholeheartedly to practise their faith: time and space is made available for prayer as required by particular traditions, and dietary provision is made within the school.

There is no attempt to convert pupils to a particular creed; that must be between them and God. All are encouraged to reflect on the deep questions of life, and to be aware of and to respect the traditions of faith.

The Chaplain is always available to listen to pupils, staff and parents, both during term and in the school holidays.

Further biographical information about the Chaplain is available on his homepage.
