Chemistry
We have been pleased by the large numbers of pupils studying chemistry at Strathallan at a time when the numbers studying chemistry beyond GCSE have been falling across the UK. The School currently has over 70 pupils taking chemistry in the Sixth Form. Many of these will go on to university courses where chemistry forms an important part of the degree, whether that be in chemistry or chemical engineering studies or biological, medical and veterinary courses.
Experimental work forms an important part of the teaching and at both GCSE and AS/A levels there is some form of practical assessment. Where appropriate the chemistry taught in the lab is linked to the wider use of chemistry in industry, medicine and the home.
