Computing & ICT
Clearly Computing is one of the most exciting, rapidly changing subjects – and we are the only school in Scotland to deliver it as a compulsory subject for all to the level of Standard Grade. The Standard Grade course provides an excellent entry into both Sixth Form courses offered by the department – Higher ‘Information Systems’ and A-Level ‘Computing’.
We aim to help pupils cope with the increasing complexity, by challenging them to solve common problems and some more unusual and interesting ones too.
Pupils will learn how computers are used in everyday life, how general purpose packages and computer systems work, how to write computer software, and how to use and understand the School's network and the Internet.
At the end of this process, pupils should be able to communicate effectively about computers with other people, and use their knowledge to help others solve problems.
