English
The English Department has six members of staff, most of whom have additional pastoral and extra-curricular responsibilities within the School. It is situated in the main building, which provides easy access to the School's 250 seat theatre, an extensive computer suite and the School Library, which facilitates the promotion of much cross-curricular activity.
English is delivered in accordance with the National Curriculum Guidelines for Keystage 2 onwards. This offers students the opportunity to develop oral communication skills and to write both creatively and functionally through the study of all literary genres:- Prose (fiction and non-fiction), Poetry, Drama (contemporary and classical) and Media. The Department provides a wide range of courses to suit all levels - offering both S.Q.A courses at Standard Grade and Higher and O.C.R courses leading to the acquisition of 2 GCSEs and an A Level.
