Golf

The golf section caters for golfers of all abilities-from beginners to low handicappers. We have a very full golfing programme for those who make it into the school team but we also cater for those who are not quite good enough for the side with a number of events at recognised golf courses. We have linked up with Auchterarder Golf Club to play all our home fixtures and there are a number of intra-school competitions.

The school has a 9 hole course on campus which gives pupils an opportunity to play on games afternoons and in their spare time. There is also a practice area where beginners and those wishing to improve, can work on their game under the watchful eyes of the teaching staff.

Strathallan has "produced" a number of fine golfers over the years, a number of whom play the game for a living. Notable amongst these are Iain Steel, William Guy and Grant Anderson of relatively recent vintage. In addition the school can also boast the record eight time winner of the European Tour order of merit and Ryder Cup stalwart, Colin Montgomerie amongst its former pupils.

The school team competes in the Perth and Kinross League as well as playing fixtures against most of Scotland`s boarding schools on an annual basis. In addition there is also the Scottish Wayfarers match, The Scottish Independent Schools Championship, Staff v Pupils and occasional games against the Strathallians, The Royal Perth Golfing Society plus various Club competitions to look forward to. We also have a 36 hole School Championship at Auchterarder, an 18 hole competition for the Pitlochry Cup and the Inter-House Competition all of which are played for on an annual basis. The following courses have been played during the last few years: The Old Course at St Andrews: Blairgowrie`s Rosemount; Crieff; Pitlochry; Bruntsfield links; Kingsacre and Craigielaw.

For the keen golfer there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy their golfing experience at Strathallan.
