Shooting - Clay Pigeon
Strathallan has had a Clay Shooting Club for over 10 years. Started as a post exam activity for the Sixth Form, it quickly expanded into a formal club and we entered a team into the Scottish Schools' Championship, finishing second. We went on to win the competition for several years in a row and were given our first hand trap by John Lascelles, a former pupil of Strathallan, and we started shooting at school. Since those early days we have become the only school in Scotland, if not the UK, to have our own skeet range and are in the process of setting up our own compact sporting range also.
The club not only coaches shooting, but the members also take safety courses and marker courses and the school is affiliated to the SCTA. The club is a recognised by the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme as an official hobby and can be used to gain awards at all levels.
