International Pupils

While Strathallan is very much a British boarding school, we welcome pupils from other parts of the world. We currently have less than 10% international pupils, which allows all of our overseas pupils to mix with their British friends, experience British culture and improve their English language skills.

Those pupils for whom English is not their first language can benefit from our dedicated English as an Additional Language team, who provide extra lessons and support for as long as required. There is generally no extra charge for this service, as it is included within the normal school fees.

We realise that it can be difficult for pupils to fit into a different culture, often thousands of miles from home, and we work hard to make sure that our international pupils enjoy their time at Strathallan. All our pupils are supported by a team of tutors, led by the Housemasters and Housemistresses, who are responsible for the emotional welfare of pupils as well as their academic work.

For pupils from Mainland China, we have a Chinese Counsellor on the staff at Strathallan. Tao Zhou is a Chinese student himself, studying for a postgraduate degree at Dundee University, and he works closely with our Chinese pupils to make sure that they are enjoying and benefiting from their experience at Strathallan.

The Admissions process for international pupils is the same as that for British pupils, and the same scholarships are available to the strongest pupils. We normally need to see a school report from the pupil’s current school so that we can get a clearer idea of the pupil’s academic ability.

We are always happy to welcome parents and prospective pupils to come and to have a look round the School. We recognise that this may not be practical for overseas pupils, but if you are able to visit the School in advance it would be an excellent way to learn more about Strathallan before you arrive. Please contact our Admissions Office to make the arrangements for a visit.
