Skiing
Spring Term 2010
Skiing in the Spring Term 2010 will take place, subject to snow and weather conditions and on up to three selected mid-week days in the first half of term. The aim is to make best possible use of the snow and weather conditions. It is essential that all pupils wishing to ski with Strathallan have had a permission slip filled in, signed and returned prior to their being allowed to ski. Permission is carried over from last year unless you instruct us to the contrary. To download the form please click here. The safety of our pupils is of paramount importance. With this in mind, all pupils skiing with Strathski will, according to their ability, ski under the instruction or guidance of a qualified Ski Instructor or Ski Guide.
General
Ski Racing is voluntary. Team members usually have a background of ski racing on snow or on the dry slope. They often belong to local, regional, Scottish or British squads. Strathallan takes part in the Scottish Schools Dry Slopes Ski Championships at the Midlothian Centre, Hillend (autumn term), the Scottish Schools Ski Championships and the Minors Ski Championships, both at the Lecht (winter term). Selection for the A Team in each age group is based on previous results and experience. B Team racers are occasionally called as A Team member substitutes.
Racers mostly train with their respective Clubs and Squads in Scotland, Europe and beyond. When snow conditions in Scotland are satisfying, Race Training sessions can be arranged as part of the School’s ski outings.
Adam Piper and Jo Morrison, both members of the Scottish Squad are currently pupils at Strathallan. They have both represented Scotland at the World Schools Ski Championships.
