Director of Music

We require a well qualified and experienced teacher for September 2017 to run a large and thriving department, with three other full-time and fifteen peripatetic staff. The Music Department is housed in an attractive and spacious part of the old school building.

Music is popular at A Level, Scottish Higher and GCSE and a large number of pupils take individual music lessons – several to diploma level.

A wide variety of music is practised within the school and there is a good number of very talented musicians who give over sixty performances a year.

The successful applicant will teach up to A level and will have excellent musical skills, and be able to motivate and further develop this important area of the school.

Vocal Tutor

Strathallan School requires an experienced, part time instrumental tutor of Voice. The candidate should be professionally trained and be able to teach a number of different styles such as classical, musical theatre, pop and jazz. Keyboard skills are essential. There is scope to become involved in the wider musical community within the school.

Admissions Secretary

Salary £18 - 22k pa

Strathallan is a leading independent co-educational boarding and day school for pupils aged 9 to 18. We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Admissions Secretary to join our Admissions team.

The successful candidate will work closely with our Registrar and Marketing team and will require excellent administrative skills along with strong organisation and communication skills (written and verbal).

The position is a full time, permanent, year round post. The current post holder’s last day is 30 June 2017 and we anticipate the successful candidate being available for 1 June in order to provide a comprehensive handover.

Resident Matron
Junior Boarding House

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the running of a well-established, vibrant and successful school. The current Residential Matron is leaving her post following ten years of excellent service.

The position is full time, term-time only, except for short periods of preparatory work before each term. The current post holder’s last day is 30 June 2017.

A child healthcare or social care background would be an advantage as would qualification to at least SVQ 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People) or equivalent. A genuine commitment to nurturing the wellbeing of the children in Riley House will be essential.

Lets & Events Assistant (Temporary - Spring & Summer Holidays)

Out with term time, Strathallan lets school accommodation and facilities to a variety of high profile organisations. Events range from orchestral courses and sports training camps to conferences and summer schools as well as non-residential facilities hire for many local and national bodies. We pride ourselves on the level of service we offer our clients and are looking to recruit an additional member of our Lets & Events team who has a similar focus.

We are currently looking for candidates who have experience in events or hospitality or are working towards a qualification in a similar discipline, to work with the Lets & Events Manager on a temporary basis in the run up to and during the spring and summer breaks. You will be involved with operations relating to all events taking place during the holidays (mid-March to mid-April and end June – mid August) and duties include:

- liaising with clients and their delegates as well as with colleagues in the estates, domestic services and catering departments to ensure events run smoothly;

- liaising with resident academic staff and housemasters;

- monitoring use of facilities and reporting any damages;

- allocating and supervising use of school facilities, ensuring all equipment is in place;

- assisting with issue of swipe cards and keys;

- supervising dining hall at meal times.

The role requires you to have an eye for detail and you should be keen to deliver exemplary customer service in a fast-paced environment. Ability to respond well to challenges and adaptability are also important and having your own transport is an advantage. The successful candidate will be required to become a member of the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) Scheme prior to the commencement of employment.

Due to the nature of the work, shift patterns will vary but you will work five days from seven and there may be split shifts with hours likely to be between 25 and 35 per week. There will also be some early morning and evening work involved as you will be one of the first points of contact for our clients. Rate of pay will depend on suitability and experience and will meet or exceed NMW rates. Live-in accommodation may be available.
