Riley for boarders

A truly rounded education – a home away from home

Riley is a supportive and nurturing environment and welcomes pupils from all over the world. Our pupils are confident, eager to try new things, polite and well mannered.

Our recent, excellent report from the Care Inspectorate is an endorsement of the high standards we set at Strathallan to make sure our children are well looked after and content when they’re in our care.

A warm and welcoming environment

In Riley we focus on creating a safe and stimulating environment where children can learn, have fun and enjoy spending their time. Children enjoy excellent indoor facilities which include a main common room, TV lounge, games room, quiet areas, and foyer snug. They can also make hot drinks and snacks in the kitchen. Dormitories are colouful and cosy and usually sleep between four and five pupils. Outside they have their own sports grounds and play areas and the wooded Valley where they can make dens, climb trees and run free. They also have access to the facilities of the main School.

Busy evenings and weekends

Evening and weekends are busy too. There is a packed schedule of activities every day and many day pupils choose to stay until 7.30pm. On Saturdays there are normal lessons followed by sport in the morning and fun things to do in the evening and on Sundays there are optional excursions to nearby towns and cities and attractions.

In the school as a whole over 60% of pupils are boarders so there is a lively community 24/7.

Keeping connected

For the many children who board with us, we make sure they maintain a good connection with home. They can keep in touch with their families during term times using the wifi to speak to parents and grandparents on Skype or they can text or call whenever they need to.

Additionally, the children know they can speak to their Housemistress, Matron, tutors or other staff at any time about any issue they may have. Pastoral care is extremely important and we strive at all times to reach the highest possible standards.
