Scholars explore Scotland’s place in WWI
November 1 2018
On Monday 29 October, Strathallan’s University History Group and Academic Scholars were fortunate to welcome Ewen Cameron, Sir William Fraser Professor of Scottish History and Palaeograhy of the University of Edinburgh.
In anticipation of next week’s commemoration of the end of World War I, Professor Cameron delivered a lecture on Scotland’s place in the Great Global War. He encouraged students to question the uniqueness of the Scottish experience and, in debunking some late 20th-century historiographical trends, asked scholars to consider how we should continue to remember the fallen. Professor Cameron was also most generous in inviting questions on the university application process and studying beyond school. Strathallan’s Historians and Scholars are most grateful for his time.
