Recent sporting achievements at Strathallan

Equestrian

Congratulations to Brook W and Alex B who both competed at the Angus Pony Club event over half term. Brook W won the Susan Baxter combined training Trophy for 15 years and over, and was first in the 95cm show jumping, with Alex B placed second in the same class.

Rugby

Well done to Greg C, Alex M, Liam D (U18) and Callum N (U16) who were all selected to play for Glasgow Warriors over half term in matches v Cardiff Blues. They also played in the Junior 1872 Cup matches for Glasgow Warriors against Edinburgh.

This is a fantastic achievement for the girls who played extremely well and worked so hard as a team to win the tournament. A trophy was awarded to Captain Nicola M and medals for all the players.

Congratulations to Alexander E who was competing over half term down in England. He won the 12 & under Grade 3 singles in Warrington, 2nd in Grade 4 16 & under in Nottingham and he won the Grade 3 12 & under Grade 3 doubles in Shrewsbury.

Well done to Marcus M, who was winner 18 & under Doubles Gleneagles Autumn Open 18 and under Singles winning two good games out of three, losing to the eventual winner. Marcus was also 2nd place in the 18 and under doubles Grade 4 Manchester Autumn Open; 3rd place in the 18 and under singles after a great performance against a higher rated player and losing in the match tie-break to the 1st seed; 3rd place in the 16 and under County Doubles Grade 2 National Event in Sunderland with two good performances resulting in a win and a loss. Finally, in Aberdeen Marcus played for Kinnoull men’s 1st team winning the league in a shoot-out.

Youth Development Series

Well done to Angus K and William W who competed in the U15 Sabre at the Youth Development Series. Both made it through the pools and at this point Angus was seeded 2nd and William 3rd. In his first direct elimination, William ran out of steam at 11-10 and the fight finished 11 – 15. Angus convincingly won his first DE but then lost 15-8 in an exciting final, ending up with a silver medal.

Well done to Christopher A who won Silver in the 100 Fly at the Carnegie Open Meet.

Tayside Schools Championships

The School won a record 49 medals in total at this event! In the Boys Senior 100 Free, four out of six swimmers in the final were from Strathallan, it was the last race of the night and what a race it was. Our Boys Swim Captain Jonathan W won the race, Obo C came 2nd with Kalle H taking 3rd and Campbell H 4th.

Skiing

Scottish Dual Slalom Finals

Congratulations to Maisie M, Roli S, Iona R, Alasdair M and Alistair J who qualified for the Scottish Dual Slalom Finals. The team finished joint 2nd in the pool and then had a three school ski-off to see who progressed to the semi-finals. All three schools won one race so it ran to another ski-off where we lost our first race therefore were unfortunately knocked out of the competition.
