Daisy R hits the high notes

Strathallan music scholar Daisy R is celebrating a term of outstanding musical achievements.

She was chosen to take part in a Super String Session project with Big Noise and Nicola Benedetti in October. As Big Noise celebrated its 10th year of delivering in communities in Scotland they invited young players from all over the county who have been learning in many different ways, to form one-off string ensembles to celebrate making music together!

Daisy played alongside Nicola Benedetti and the young people and teachers from Big Noise centres in Super String sessions in Dundee and Glasgow. The young musicians had the chance to work with Nicola and to enjoy a new experience working with peers at their level from around the country.

Daisy has also received an award from Awards for Young Musicians from the Robert Lewin Scholarship to help with her ongoing studies at the RCS in Glasgow. As part of her award, she will attend the prizegiving ceremony in December. She will be involved in side by side rehearsals, working on some challenging orchestral repertoire and to sit alongside a BBC Symphony Orchestra viola musician at the BBC Maida Vale studios. The day will also be spent working with top conductor and AYM Patron and Alumus Duncan Ward on a number of pieces/movements.

In addition to these achievements, Daisy was made Principal Viola of the Symphony Orchestra and Strings Orchestra for The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Juniors and was featured in the advert for their Choral Showcase in December.
