Victory for Strathallan at Midland Indoor Hockey Qualifiers

Strathallan School girls hockey Ist VI team have qualified for the Scottish Schools Indoor Hockey Finals after triumphing at the Midland Indoor Qualifying tournament this week.

Three teams entered the tournament – Strathallan, Kilgraston and High School of Dundee. Strathallan’s first match was against the High School of Dundee, who led the first part of the game before Flora H scored to equalise. High School of Dundee then scored again before Izzy F scored to make it 2-2. Two goals from Lisa B and one from Nicola M meant that Strathallan finished 5-3 up at half time. In the second half, Izzy F and Josie T scored to end the match 7-3 to Strathallan.

Strathallan’s second game was against Kilgraston, and the team finished 4-0 up at half time with Izzy F and Lisa B scoring once each, and Flora H scoring twice. The final score was 6-0 to Strathallan, with Lisa B scoring twice in the second half.

The team will now represent Midland at the Scottish Schools final on 12 January at Bell’s Sports Centre.

I am absolutely delighted that the girls have qualified for the National Indoor Finals. They have worked extremely hard and put in two very good performances to qualify. Some of the girls were in the team that were runners up at the Nationals last year and they were determined to qualify again this year.
