Exploring Judaism for GCSE Religious Studies
December 13 2018
Iona F has been studying Judaism as part of her GCSE Religious Studies, but was keen to discover more for herself about Jewish life and practice.
Cue a day with the Jewish community in Glasgow and a first-hand opportunity to explore surprisingly different synagogues, to meet and interview representatives and leaders of the community, and most importantly, to try the world famous ‘Jewish Penicillin’ – chicken broth with kneidles!
“It was exciting and eye-opening,” says Iona. “It was really refreshing to break away from the text book and get an idea of what life is really like for Jews.”
Religious Studies GCSE is all about understanding and responding thoughtfully to different beliefs, ideas and practices (a skill that could be valued more on social media) as well as developing your own world view in response. We are delighted to be able to offer it for the first time at Strathallan.
