Angus T on his Clays Success

Angus T tells us about his shooting development through his time at Strathallan. He managed to shoot 50 out of 50 clays at County Clays in Dunkeld and was part of the team that won the Independent Schools competition earlier this year.

“I have been shooting since I was 10 years old and found that I really enjoyed it. I started clay shooting when I came to Strath in second form, prior to that I have only shot game and the odd fun clay shoot with my family but nothing competitive. My clay shooting really started to improve after I got coaching every Friday afternoon by Eddie, Mr Vallot and Mr MacBain at the shooting academy.

On June 14th I managed to shoot 50 out of 50 at County Clays in Dunkeld. For me this is a big achievement because I have worked exceptionally hard on my shooting at the school and also in my own time. I was a member of the winning team and finished second individually at Holland and Holland Schools Championship. However, I have always missed out by a clay or two which is very frustrating. I am very proud to be able to have shot 50 out of 50 and come joint first at County Clays because I was up against an all adult field of people, who have many more years’ experience than myself.

Hopefully it won’t be the last time that I manage to come first as I am aiming to contest for high gun at this year’s Scottish Schools Competition and to qualify for the super finals at the Scottish Game Fair which I have started practicing for. I am so grateful to the coaches and team members at Strathallan School without them I couldn’t have done any of this, especially Eddie who is a super coach and worked really hard to get Strathallan Shooting Academy to where we want it to be and a big thank you to Mr Vallot for his encouragement, support and organisation.”
