Sporting superstars start the summer term in fine form

Pupils at Strathallan have kicked off the summer term with a wide range of sporting achievements from national and regional selection to medals and championship performances.

Athletics

Well done to Michael A who took part in Bexley Athletic Club championship over the Easter holidays. He came 1st in the U13 800m and 2nd in the U13 200m.

Boys hockey

National Selection

Congratulations to Fin D who was selected for the Scotland U16 teams to play against Wales and England.

Cricket

T20 Independent Schools Regional Competition

Well done to our T20 teams who put in excellent performances at this tournament hosted at home by Strathallan School. Special mention to the 2nd XI team who beat Merchiston by 4 wickets.

Equestrian

National qualification

Congratulations to the riders who have qualified for the National Schools Dressage and Show Jumping finals held in October 2019 at Addington Equestrian Centre, Buckingham. The teams are as follows:

Preliminary Dressage: Flora W, Meghan M, Amelia E and Rowan L. Flora has also qualified for the individual section of the competition.

Show Jumping (1m): Flora W, Amelia E, Rowan L and Brook W. Brook has also qualified for the individual 1.10m competition.

Pony Club Championships

Well done to Brook W who finished 10th in the Dengie Pony Club Open 110cm Grand Prix Championships at Addington.

Forgandenny Horse Trials

Brook W won the BE100 Under 18 class, riding her horse Shannondale Flight at Forgandenny Horse Trials. She also came 5th in the BE90 class, riding her pony Tino.

Fencing

National selection

Well done to Angus K who was selected for the Scotland Fencing team and competed in the Challenge Wratislavia event in Poland over the Easter holidays.

Football

Scottish Youth Cup Final

Congratulations to Nathan Y-C who scored the winning goal for Rangers in the Scottish Youth Cup Final at Hampden Park.

Golf

Strathallan Golf Championships

12 golfers took part in the Strathallan Golf Championships at Auchterarder Golf Club. Shannon P is our 2019 champion, taking home the St Columba’s Trophy.

Wayfarers Match

Well done to Jamie Killoh and Rory Ottley who played at the Old Course in St Andrews yesterday in the annual Wayfarers Match, playing against two former pupils.

Ice skating

Congratulations to Charlotte D who competed in the Blackpool Ice Skating Festival over the Easter holidays. This was her first competition in five years and she finished 4th in the Level 4 ladies free skate, as well as being part of a group exhibition number that was placed 10th out of 21.

Modern tetrathlon

National Modern Tetrathlon

Congratulations to brothers Blake, Elliot and Jacob H who all competed at the National Modern Tetrathlon event at Bath University. All three performed very well, their results were as follows:

Blake (U17) – 8th place in his first U17 competition

Elliot (U15) – 12th place

Jacob (U13) – 5th place and the youngest competitor in this category as still U11.

Netball

Perth League

Well done to our 1st VII netball team who beat the Dodgers Red team 29 – 27 in the Perth League.

Rounders

Riley (Strathallan juniors) v Belhaven Hill School

Well done to our U13A junior rounders team who beat Belhaven Hill School 16-11, and to our U12A team who lost to Belhaven Hill School but put in some fantastic performances.

 Kilgraston Tournament

Our U13A team won all their pools games (against Craigclowan, Loretto, Cargilfield and Ardvreck) and then went on to beat Belhaven Hill’s team 7.5 – 2.5 in the final. Well done to the girls on this fantastic achievement

Rugby

District selection

Congratulations to Alex C who was selected for the regional Caledonia Midlands Match against Caledonia North.

National selection

Congratulations to Callum N who is currently competing down in Wales for the Scotland U16 Blues team.

SRU Cup Finals

Congratulations to Struan M who was invited to officiate at the SRU Cup Finals at Murrayfield.

Lathallan 7s

Well done to our Senior 7s team who finished in 3rd place at the Lathallan 7s rugby tournament.

Youth Cup Finals

Congratulations to the pupils who competed in the Youth Cup Finals for Perthshire RFC on Sunday. Special mention to Charlotte G who scored a number of tries for Perthshire in the Bowl Final.

Skiing

British Championships

Congratulations to Tom R who competed at the British Championships in Tignes. He was 4th in the Super G, 5th in the Slalom, 6th in the Giant Slalom, finishing 3rd overall in the U16 category.

Tennis

Rogy Tour in the Park

Katie B was the winner of the U18 girls singles at the Rogy Tour in the Park event in Edinburgh.

Northumberland Grand Prix

Alexander E won both the U16 Singles and U16 Doubles at the Northumberland Grand Prix.

Middlesborough Grade 3

Alexander E also won silver medals at Middlesborough Grade 3 in the U14 singles, doubles and U18 doubles. He won consolation of U16 singles at same event.

U12 Winter National Tour Finals

Continuing his success, Alexander E achieved an impressive 10th place finish at the U12 Winter National Tour Finals.

Scottish Inter-District Championships

Marcus M and Nicholas B were selected for the Tayside Tennis team who won the Scottish Inter-District Championships. Both were undefeated in the competition with Marcus winning all eight of his games and Nicholas winning all six of his games.

Waverley Junior Open

Marcus M won the U14 and U18 doubles at the Waverley Junior Open and has been selected to represent North of Scotland at the County Cup in Lincolnshire. Lucas B won 3rd place in U9 singles at Waverley Junior Open.

Scottish Indoor Doubles

Marcus M also won silver in the Scottish U16 and U14 Indoor Doubles.

Regional selection

Ben C, Alexander E and Nicholas B were selected for the Tennis Scotland U14 Regional Development match against Wales and England North over the Easter holidays.

Bridge of Allan Junior Open

Well done to Katie B who won the U18 girls singles event at Bridge of Allan Junior Open. She was unseeded but went on to beat the No.1 seed on the way to the final were she won 6 – 3, 6 – 2.

Tennis Europe U14 Junior International

Alexander E has recorded two very good wins to qualify for the main draw of the Tennis Europe U14 Junior International at Nottingham Tennis Centre.

Morrisons Tournament

Annie W and Silvia C won 23 out of 25 games, beating Kilgraston, Dollar, Morrisons, High School of Dundee and Ardvreck winning the ‘A’ competition.

Naomi H and Adrianna F K won 18 out of 25 games, beating Kilgraston, Morrisons, High School of Dundee and Ardvreck winning the ‘B’ competition.

Tetrathlon

Winter Series National Finals

It was fantastic to have five pupils competing in the Tetrathlon Winter Series National Finals over the Easter holidays. The results were as follows:

Open Girls
Steph C – 8th place overall (2nd in shoot, 7th in swim)

Junior Boys
Blake H – 1st place overall
Elliot H – 23rd place overall

Minimus Boys
Jacob H – 13th place

Minimus Girls
Pebbles W – 31st overall (5th in shoot)

National selection

Congratulations to Blake and Elliot H who have been selected by Scottish Tetrathlon to represent Scotland at the Pony Club Junior International Competition in June.
