Strathallan Riders Shine at Annual Show Jumping Competition

On Sunday, 17th November 2024, Strathallan School hosted its annual Team and Individual Show Jumping competition at Highfield at Howe Equestrian Centre in Fife. The event unfolded on a crisp, icy morning, with nearly 200 rounds of show jumping taking place throughout the day.

Riders from numerous schools and riding clubs participated, showcasing remarkable skill and sportsmanship. Strathallan’s own riders were out in force, delivering enthusiastic and expert performances that resulted in outstanding achievements. Strathallan School secured two team trophies in Classes 1 and 3, alongside second-place team finishes in Classes 2 and 4.

Standout Performances

  • Class 3 Victory: Ruby M, Eliza E, Pippa M, and Emily S secured the win in the hotly contested Class 3, becoming the only team to finish on 0 faults.
  • Class 1 Win: Grace M and Brook B rode fantastic double clears, executing excellent tight turns to secure the top spot for Strathallan.
  • Final Class Success: Under immense pressure, Ruby M, Emily S, and Lucy B all rode brilliant double clears in the final class of the day, earning a narrow second-place finish on time difference.
  • Individual Achievement: Ruby M, riding her horse Ayrton, delivered an outstanding performance in Class 4—the largest class of the day—finishing as Strathallan's highest individual performer in second place.

Special thanks go to Tom Myles and his team at Howe for their flawless organisation, Callum Glasgow for his impressive course design, and Jane Calder for her superb judging and commentary, all of which ensured the competition ran smoothly and on time.

Congratulations to all the competitors for making it a truly memorable event!
