The number of A* grades achieved this year set a new school record, with 67 per cent of grades awarded at A*–B, 83 per cent at A*–C and an overall pass rate of 98 per cent.
Over three quarters of pupils secured their first-choice university places, with a further 10 per cent holding deferred or reserved choices. Destinations include Newcastle, Heriot-Watt, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Strathclyde, Durham, Aberdeen, St Andrews, UCL, Manchester and Exeter, alongside a wide range of other leading universities across the UK.
While university remains a popular route, the breadth of destinations reflects the many different pathways available to Strathallan pupils. Farrah Cunningham, Strathallan’s School Captain, has secured a highly competitive Degree Apprenticeship with Morgan Stanley, combining employment with a Business Management degree at the University of Strathclyde. Euan Weir is pursuing a Commercial and Business Banking Graduate Apprenticeship with Lloyds Banking Group, while on the sporting front, Ben McDonald has signed with Edinburgh Rugby.
Particular strengths were seen in Design & Technology, English, Art, Modern Foreign Languages, History, Music and Further Mathematics. Strathallan’s Medicine candidates secured places at the Universities of Glasgow and Dundee.
Among those celebrating was Ankura Peng, who achieved A*A*AA and will study Psychology at Durham University – fulfilling a six-year ambition despite not having studied the subject at A Level.
“Getting into Durham to study Psychology feels a little bit like finally completing a six-year-long dream,” said Ankura. “I’m really excited and honoured to finally study it systematically at university.”
Ben Wylie also celebrated excellent results, achieving A*AA and securing a place to study Scots Law at the University of Glasgow.
“I’m so fortunate to be going to such a strong university, especially to study something as incredible as law,” said Ben. “My EPQ last year was centred on law, so I’m really interested in exploring how our society is shaped and governed through my studies.”
Another pupil celebrating success was Ben Bridge, who achieved A*AB and will now study Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Glasgow. Particularly proud of his A grade in Physics, Ben improved significantly from his mock examination results through determination, independent study and support from his teachers.
“I initially applied to Glasgow as my aspirational choice, so to be able to say I achieved that is something I’m very satisfied about,” said Ben.
“My advice to younger pupils is to try everything. By seizing the opportunities that came my way, I was able to take part in a huge number of different events and experiences, which had a positive impact both in and out of the classroom.”
Mark Lauder, Headmaster of Strathallan School, said: “This year’s A Level results are a fantastic achievement and another record-breaking performance for Strathallan. Our pupils have set a new school record with the number of A* grades achieved.
“Just as importantly, these results have translated into excellent destinations for our Class of 2026. Pupils are heading to Durham, UCL, Newcastle, Aberdeen, Glasgow, St Andrews and Heriot-Watt, alongside a range of other leading UK and international universities.
“We are also incredibly proud of the breadth of pathways our pupils are taking, from prestigious degree apprenticeships to professional sport with Edinburgh Rugby. That diversity reflects the individual ambitions of our pupils and the range of opportunities available to them.
“These are outstanding results, and I want to congratulate every member of our A Level and Higher cohort. They are thoroughly deserved, and we could not be prouder of them.”
