The Independent Schools of the Year Awards celebrate the very best of independent education across the UK, recognising schools that provide exceptional experiences for their pupils both inside and beyond the classroom. The International Student Experience award celebrates schools that create an outstanding environment in which pupils from around the world can thrive academically, socially and personally.
At Strathallan, international pupils are an integral part of our community, with young people from across the globe living, learning and growing together on our Perthshire campus. Our boarding community brings together a diverse range of nationalities, cultures and perspectives, creating an environment where lifelong friendships are formed and every pupil is encouraged to make a meaningful contribution to school life.
At the heart of our approach is a belief that the international student experience should be shaped by the pupils themselves. Throughout the year, international representatives from across the School meet regularly to share ideas and feedback, with an International Prefect providing a direct link to the Senior Leadership Team. This ensures that pupils' voices help shape everything from boarding life and induction to cultural celebrations and social events.
Over the past year, pupils have helped develop new opportunities specifically for younger international boarders, expanded the programme of cultural celebrations to include occasions such as Chinese New Year, Ramadan and Cinco de Mayo, and organised trips and activities that help pupils experience both Scotland and the wider UK. International pupils also play a key role in welcoming new arrivals, acting as mentors and helping them settle quickly into life at Strathallan.
We are delighted to have been commended for our commitment to ensuring every pupil feels both recognised as an individual and part of a close-knit school community, while celebrating the diverse cultures and perspectives that enrich life on campus.
Finalists in the Independent Schools of the Year Awards will be announced on 10th September, with winners revealed at the awards ceremony on 14th October.
