For Archie, this will be his second year performing with the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland (NYPBOS), an achievement that continues to mean a great deal to him.
He said, “It’s just a fantastic opportunity. Being able to represent your country through piping is something I’ve always dreamed of doing, so to get to this level means a lot. I’m really looking forward to performing with the band again and seeing what we get up to.”
For Calum, this will be his fourth year with the National Youth Pipe Band, having progressed into the Development Band.
Calum added, “It’s brilliant to be selected again and to move into the Development Band. There are so many really good pipers in the band, so it’s great to be part of it. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and getting started.”
Both Archie and Calum will be working towards performing with the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland at Celtic Connections in Glasgow in the new year, one of Scotland’s biggest celebrations of traditional music.
A proud former member of the NYPBOS and Strathallan’s Director of Piping and Drumming, Josh Fraser, said, “It’s fantastic to see Archie and Calum both selected again. They’ve both been involved with the National Youth Pipe Band for a number of years now, so it’s brilliant to see them continuing to progress. Archie reaching his fourth year with the band is a fantastic achievement, while Calum moving into the Development Band is a great step for him. They’ve both put a huge amount of work into their piping, and it’s great to see that recognised. We’re all looking forward to seeing them perform throughout the year.”
