For her birthday this year, Betty chose not to ask for presents, instead requesting donations to Team Jak, the Scottish Children's Cancer Charity. Hoping to raise a small amount, she was overwhelmed by the generosity of friends and family, ultimately raising over £1,000 for the charity and inspiring classmates to consider doing the same.

Allison Barr, founder of Team Jak, said: “We are absolutely honoured and blown away by the lovely Betty and the selfless act she undertook for her birthday, asking for donations to Team Jak instead of gifts.”
“For a child so young to think of others before herself is something truly special. We are incredibly grateful, as the wonderful sum she raised will allow us to continue supporting children of a similar age who are sadly going through cancer treatment. Thank you, Betty - you are our Team Jak superstar!”
Strathallan School Chaplain, Rev Wylie, added: “We are immensely proud of Betty. As one of our youngest pupils, her kindness and generosity have set a wonderful example for our whole school community in supporting Team Jak, our chosen charity for this year.”
