‘Last Train for Murder’, which was published by The Book Folks in September, follows reporter Amy Thornton and Detective Inspector Russell McCord as they race to find the culprit of a mysterious poisoning.
We caught up with Traude Ailinger, author and EAL teacher at Strathallan School, to find out what motivated her to continue her series, The Edinburgh Murders.

What inspired you to write this series?
I have fallen in love with my characters who have taken on a life of their own. It is such fun getting them into trouble and out again.
How did you manage to write three novels in three years while working full-time?
It was lockdown that gave me the time and space to start a big project. Now, my Sundays and holidays look like this: sleep, write, coffee, write, eat, coffee, write, sleep, repeat.
I couldn’t do it without my first-class butler, proof-reader, and greatest fan, aka my wonderful husband, my supportive children and forgiving friends.
