This year’s A-level cohort achieved a 100% pass rate*, with 17% of all grades awarded at A* – a new school record. More than a third of candidates achieved at least one A*, while over half (52%) secured at least one A* or A grade, and over a third (35%) of all grades awarded were A*–A.
With 62% of all grades at A*–B, 90% at A*–C was a new record too as was the impressive 100% pass rate. University progression is also at an all-time high – 89% of leavers gained a place on their first-choice course and 97% secured either their first choice or insurance offer. Pupils will now go on to study a wide range of subjects at leading institutions including the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, University of Warwick, Durham University, Mountview, the University of Edinburgh, St Andrew’s University and the University of Arizona.
Among the top performers was Cadet RSM Charlie Marjoribanks, who achieved four A*s in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and will go on to study Biochemistry at the University of St Andrews. Charlie said, “I am very happy with my results and I am looking forward to studying Biochemistry at St Andrews. I am grateful for all the amazing and interesting lessons and support from my teachers.”
Another pupil celebrating outstanding results was Ellie Barrowman, who will take up a place at Newcastle University to study Biomedical Science, with plans to go on to Dentistry.
Ellie said, “I was so happy receiving my results today after two years of hard work and dedication. I’m incredibly grateful for the support I’ve received from my school and teachers, whose guidance has helped me achieve these grades and secure an offer from Newcastle to study Biomedical Science. I’m excited to begin this new chapter before pursuing my ultimate goal of studying Dentistry. Thank you to all my teachers for their constant encouragement and support.”
Headmaster Mark Lauder said, “It has been an extraordinary fortnight for academic achievement at Strathallan. Following last week’s record-breaking Scottish Qualifications results, today’s A-level outcomes confirm that our pupils continue to perform at the very highest level across the board.”
“These achievements are the product of hard work, resilience, and the exceptional teaching that characterises our school. I am immensely proud of every one of our leavers, and of all our pupils – including those awaiting their GCSE results next week – who have worked so hard this year. They now head off to pursue an exciting range of courses and careers, confident in the knowledge that they have already achieved something remarkable.”
