Callum Norrie selected for Scottish Rugby U20 on last day of exams

Strathallan School student Callum Norrie has shared his relief at being selected for the Scotland U20 Summer Series squad on the day of his last A-Level exams.

Receiving his selection email moments before his last exam, the Sixth Form student said he can’t wait to head out to Stadio Di Mongio with the 32-man team.

The final year pupil has had a busy academic season balancing the U20 Six Nations in February, the Super6 with Stirling County in March and recent selection trials with his exams.

The 18-year-old tighthead said, “I can’t wait to go out to Italy with the squad, with no more stresses and be able to focus completely on my rugby. Even during the Six Nations, I was doing catch-up and past papers. I’ve always had exams in the back of my mind so it’s a major relief and really exciting.”

Alongside those he forged close friendships with during the U20 Six Nations, Callum will reunite with former Strathallan pupil Andy Stirrat as they continue to bring their physicality to the Scottish side.

Delighted with his selection Andy said, “I’m thrilled to get another great opportunity to represent Scotland again and get some game time against some of the best sides in Europe.”

Andrew Henderson, Director of Strathallan’s Rugby Academy, said, “The Six Nations was a great test of the U20 squad and it was great to see both Callum and Andy get stuck in. We are all excited to see them continue to work hard and represent Scotland on the international level.

“The boys should know that everyone here at Strathallan will continue to follow their rugby journey and will be supporting them while in Italy.”

Scotland will take on Wales on Saturday 25th June at Stadio Di Monigo (Kick off 4pm BST)

All of Scotland’s games will be available to watch live on Under-20 Six Nations YouTube channel.
