Jing, whose performance of Allegro by Vivaldi on the violin won her the top spot, said she couldn’t believe it when she was told she had won.
Jing said, “I’ve always loved music so being recognised for my playing feels amazing. I’ve been playing the violin for three or four years now so it feels quite important to be the first young musician of the year.”
Director of Music, Jason McAuley said, “What a privilege it is to listen to our young talented musicians! Nearly 30 young people took part in our very first Prep Young Musician of the Year competition last week. Each one should be very proud of what they achieved in their excellent performances.”
Jing will perform in the Strathallan Young Musician of the Year Final for senior students on Friday 18th November at 6.30 pm in the David Pighills Room. Members of the school community are warmly invited along to support our young talented musicians.
