Meet our new Piping Instructor

Former Red Hot Chilli Piper Kyle Howie joins Strathallan's expanding team of Traditional Music instructors this session.

Kyle, whose work has featured on the soundtracks of Disney’s ‘Brave’ and DreamWork’s ‘How To Train Your Dragon’, is looking forward to helping aspiring pipers at Strathallan School train their chanters instead.

With over 20 years of experience piping on the stage and teaching in schools, Kyle is the latest addition to Strathallan’s new Traditional Music and Scottish Culture Department.

“I’m delighted to join Strathallan School,” he said. “Strathallan’s Pipe Band is well known in the Piping world and I’m excited to join the brilliant team behind it.”

Kyle will join several experienced Piping and Drumming teachers as they lead both the school’s Pipe Band and the growing Folk Band.

Welcoming fellow former Red Hot Chilli Piper to the department, Director of Traditional Music and Scottish Culture, Craig Muirhead, said, “Kyle is a phenomenal piper and a great teacher. His vast experience in Highland Pipes as well as Uilleann pipes, Lowland Whistles and Border pipes will add even more calibre to the professional teaching we deliver here in Perthshire.”
