Strathallan Prep School Launches ‘Story Explorers’

Strathallan Prep School proudly announces the launch of Story Explorers, an initiative designed to ignite the imaginations of preschool children through the magic of storytelling and adventure. This immersive storytelling programme, tailored for children aged 3-5, aims to engage young learners in captivating tales set against the backdrop of Strathallan’s lush 153-acre Perthshire campus.

Scheduled for a Saturday morning, with six dates across the academic year, Story Explorers invites young adventurers to embark on a magical journey into the enchanting world of stories. From Gruffalo hunts in the woods to visits to the Three Bears' house, each session promises a morning filled with adventurous activities and child-led exploration, all carefully crafted to spark creativity and curiosity.

Under the guidance of Strathallan’s Year 1/2 teacher Mrs Rhiannon Gilbert, young adventurers will have the opportunity to bring classic tales to light and learn new skills through hands-on activities from making tea for a tiger to building a logpile house for a fearful Snake.

"At Strathallan Prep School, we recognize the impact storytelling can have on young minds," says Mrs Gilbert. "Through Story Explorers, we aim to spark a sense of wonder and curiosity in our young learners to inspire a lifelong love for learning and reading."

The heart of Story Explorers lies in its commitment to community and to making literacy accessible to all. The programme is free of charge and open to any child aged 3-5 within the local community.

"We are dedicated to creating inclusive opportunities for children to explore, learn, and grow," remarked Mrs Gilbert. "By offering Story Explorers as a free programme, we hope to empower families to connect with literature and nature in meaningful ways."

Young Explorers will have the opportunity to collect special book badges, commemorating their journey through stories and the friendships made along the way. The upcoming session, scheduled for 9am Saturday 11th May, will feature "The Tiger Who Came to Tea" and invites children to step into the pages of this beloved tale and embark on a magical adventure.
