More than 200 pupils took to the stage this month raising over £1800 for an outreach programme which links Strathallan with other local schools.
Funds were raised at the annual Musical Showcase held at Perth Concert Hall and this year’s carol service which took place in St. John’s Kirk – where hundreds of musicians raised their pipes, cellos, violins and voices in festive celebration.
Strathallan Director of Music, Matt Gooch, said: “Our last two major shows this term have showcased not only the incredible generosity of our community but also the hard work of our pupils.
“All the funds raised will go towards partnerships we are developing with local schools like Forgandenny and Goodlyburn Primary Schools, allowing our visiting music teachers to spend time using their skills to train children across Perthshire and hopefully, as donations increase, across Scotland.
“The outreach programme began two years ago and it is thanks to fundraising efforts by the pupils that we can help share the expertise of our teaching staff including tuition from our Head of Piping and former Red Hot Chilli Piper, Craig Muirhead and Gaelic choir tuition from our Assistant Director of Music, Carole Sayce.”
