On Target: Strathallan Clay Team Aim High at Home and Abroad

Strathallan’s Clay Shooting Team members have continued to hit the mark, with pupils delivering standout performances in recent weeks at major competitions across the UK and the USA.

Ali T travelled south to compete in the prestigious Essex Masters, using the event as a warm-up and a test run with a new gun. He scored an impressive 183/200 in the sporting round before heading to Southdown Gun Club for the final Great Britain selection shoot. Ali was named Top Junior there, securing his place on the GB team for the upcoming European FITASC Championships in the Czech Republic on 22nd May.

“It’s an honour to qualify for Team GB. This will be my fifth time representing GB,” Ali said. “Balancing training with revision is going better than I expected. My main goal this year is the World Championships, then I hope to take a gap year to focus on shooting before applying to university in the US.”

Claude N crossed the Atlantic to represent the team at a charity clay shoot in North Carolina, held in support of The Honor Foundation and The Marine Raider Foundation. The event raised an outstanding £110,000 for US Special Operations veterans and their families. Competing against a strong field, Claude finished 10th overall and was named Junior High Gun, with his team also securing second place overall. “I’m happy with how I shot and already looking forward to improving next time,” he said.

Closer to home, Keir M earned Top Junior honours at the Bows Memorial Club Shoot at Cluny, shooting 30/50 against tough local competition. “I feel like I did well but I know I can keep improving,” Keir said.
