Strathallan School Pipe Band etched their names among the top 10 European Pipe Bands in the Novice Juvenile B class. This follows an impressive third place at the Benarty Pipe Band Competition at Lochhore Meadows.

However, the accolades don't stop there. Our Piping and Drumming instructors, Mr. Muirhead and Mr. Bailie, alongside former pupil John Dew, clinched the coveted Grade 1 European Championship title with the Inverary Pipe Band.

Adding to the day’s triumphs, Drumming Instructor Mr. Richardson emerged victorious in the highly competitive Grade 3 Drumming category with the Vale of Atholl Drum Corps.

Reflecting on the achievements, Mr. Muirhead expressed his delight and optimism for the future, stating, "It was another great step forward for the Strathallan Pipe Band. The performance was controlled and composed, and we look forward to building on this in the coming months."

"It was a real joy for me to win my first major championship alongside the team at Inveraray, and even nicer to have the Strath pupils cheering us on at the side!"

The Traditional Music and Scottish Culture department has witnessed a remarkable surge in popularity and participation. From 28 pupils in 2017, the department has flourished and expanded to accommodate an impressive total of 167 pupils in 2023. This unprecedented growth is a testament to the school's overall commitment to nurturing musical talent and fostering a deep appreciation for Scotland's rich cultural heritage.

Our students recently shared the stage with Scottish folk legends Skerryvore - find out more.
