Welcome to Glenbrae!

Welcome to Glenbrae!

We look forward to welcoming you to Glenbrae and hope you will find this a friendly and happy home from home, whether you are a day girl or boarder; we proudly think you’d struggle to tell the difference between the two!

Miss Wilson

Hello!

Our aim is always to build positive relationships within your own year group, but also across all age groups and with all house staff so that you feel truly secure in your time here.

The girls aim for positive and supportive attitudes and behaviours within their day-to-day interactions; encouraging others to try new things, turning up to watch others compete or perform, talking to someone in house just because, or adding someone to the team for inter-house. Aiming to ‘get involved’ and ‘get it right’ are at the heart of how we function; participation and improvement are the most rewarded in house, and wearing your purple tutu to inter-house swimming or on the cross-country course is a right of passage these days, as are badges awarded for effort worn on your blazer. Poor choices or decisions are discussed and mends made where needed, each day is a new day, and the girls are encouraged to reflect and move forward.

All members of the house are encouraged to get involved, and there is something for everyone. Whether you like to play sports and make use of our in-house equipment, whether you like to play board games or giant Tetris, watch films with a bowl of popcorn, read, sing, cook, chat, take five minutes for a peaceful coffee, lounge in the sunshine whilst doing some homework, pet the dog or dance with a toddler. There is truly something for every single girl to do between lessons, after school, before bed. We enjoy birthday celebrations with cake for the year group, making pancakes or pizza with tutors, BINGO Wednesday’s, craft sessions, tutor group innings (get togethers), impromptu games of netball in the car park. Weekends are a mix of movies, baking, ice cream sundaes, Lego wars, sleep, laundry and school outings or innings.

A huge part of belonging comes from gathering in the late afternoon, evenings and at weekends and we would encourage you to join in during these quieter moments, meeting new people and finding common ground with others in the house that allow you even more opportunities to participate and have fun!

Most importantly, we want you to be happy in your home from home, allowing you to be the best version of yourself and to achieve great things, hopefully leaving with fond memories and friends that you will carry for a long time to come.
