Strathallan Pupil and Rangers Youth Football Player, Nathan Y-C came to speak to our Junior House, Riley. Giving a great Q&A session with the pupils.
He scored winner in Scottish Cup Final and gave a great insight to his career so far. Here are a few of the questions answered by Nathan:
When were you first scouted?
“I was first scouted at the age of 7, in and out of training with Chelsea. However, I didn’t get signed and played the equivalent of amateur football for a season or two until I was 9. Then I was scouted by Crystal Palace until I was 14, then I moved to Chelsea and from Chelsea to Rangers.”
What was being signed by Rangers like?
“It was an incredible achievement for myself and my family, a very proud moment for all of us.”
How often do you train?
“Roughly we do a mixture of intense gym and training which will take us from on an average day, 8.30 and leaving around 3/4pm. That would be on a Tuesday, Thursday, then play Friday and train again Sunday.”
How did it feel scoring the winner in a national final at Hampden?
“To score the winning goal was.. You can’t even put it into words. You can tell by my celebration and reaction that it meant a lot, not just to me but my team as well, and we deserved the win.”
How have teachers at Strathallan helped you?
“100% they have helped with my subjects because leading towards my GCSES is a stressful time and they have gone out their way to help me get the results I need.”
