Festive sweaters help students raise funds for AJ Bursary

Strathallan students have raised over £1500 for charity during this year’s Christmas Jumper Day, in memory of their friend and former pupil, AJ.

Pupils in festive woolly pullies sold candy canes and hot chocolate at the school’s Winter Wonderland in order to raise funds for the 'The AJ Bursary', which has been set up in memory of a Strathallan pupil who sadly passed away last year.

The six-week bursary, managed by the Alpine Training Centre, will support 14 and 15-year-olds who have a demonstrated passion and skill for ski racing, providing race training and coaching through the winter months.

Rev Jonny Wylie, who leads the Charity Committee at Strathallan, said, “It's lovely that only a year on from AJ’s tragic and sudden death so many of his friends have wanted to help fundraise for such a good cause and celebrate his passion.

"This is just the beginning of the bursary through which we hope to encourage others to donate. Although AJ was taken away too soon his passion for ski racing and his values of care, generosity and curiosity will live on through this bursary."

Those interested in donating to the AJ Bursary can do so here.
