Strathallan Prep School’s Story Explorers Returns – Bigger, Better and Brimming with Festive Fun

Strathallan Prep School’s Story Explorers Returns for 2025-26

Strathallan Prep School is delighted to announce the return of its celebrated Story Explorers programme, now expanded to reach even more young readers and families across the region. Now entering its third year, Strathallan’s Story Explorers programme invites Perthshire’s youngest readers to discover stories as you’ve never seen them before. This year, Story Explorers is back, with an even bigger, more immersive programme offering children aged 0-6 seasonal, story-rich experiences that blend creativity, culture and outdoor exploration.

Since launching in 2022, Story Explorers has welcomed hundreds of families to the Strathallan campus for hands-on storytelling adventures inspired by both classic and contemporary tale, from Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Jack and the Beanstalk to modern favourites like Supertato and The Tiger Who Came to Tea. Young adventurers have followed a Gruffalo through the woods, made tea for a tiger, and had porridge in Goldilocks’ cottage, each event carefully crafted to spark curiosity, confidence and a lifelong love of reading.

Story Explorers: The Nicht Afore Christmas In a first for the school, families will have the chance to experience the beloved Christmas poem in its Scots language translation, read and introduced by its translator, Irene McFarlane. Strathallan Prep School and grounds will be transformed into Santa’s workshop for this immersive experience, with activities including Christmas crafts, a magical walk to Santa’s Hut, tasty festive treats and a special gift from Santa himself, as well as this rare opportunity to hear the story brought to life by its translator.

Head of Strathallan Prep School, Mrs Emma Lalani, said: “I am delighted to be bringing Story Explorers back for its third year with a programme that is more ambitious and more rooted in community than ever before. To have the opportunity to bring Scots language storytelling to life with Irene as our guest is incredibly special. This is a beautiful opportunity for families across Perthshire to experience both the magic of Christmas and the richness of local culture.”

Strathallan Prep School remains committed to making Story Explorers an inclusive community initiative. The £5 fee for this special session helps cover materials and resources, while ensuring the programme can reach more families and expand sustainably.
