Strathallan School Pupils Secure Record GCSE Success for Third Year Running

Strathallan School pupils are celebrating another year of exceptional GCSE results, with more than half of all grades awarded at the top levels.

This summer marks the third consecutive year of rising success since the pandemic, with pupils once again excelling across a broad range of subjects. More than one in ten pupils secured the elite Grade 9 (A* equivalent), with 44% of the very top grades being 9–6 (A*–B equivalent).

Headmaster Mark Lauder said, "What makes me proud is not just the statistics but the character behind them. These results reflect pupils who have pushed themselves, supported one another, and balanced academic effort with sport, music, drama, and service. Strathallan’s strength has always been helping young people discover who they are and what they can achieve. Today’s results are another reminder of just how far that approach takes them."

Today's GCSE triumph follows a remarkable season of exam success for Strathallan, with pupils also celebrating record-breaking Highers and Advanced Highers in Scotland and outstanding A-Level outcomes earlier this month.

Among those celebrating today is Alec P, a day pupil from Malta who joined Strathallan in Third Form.

Alec said, "I am happy with my GCSE results and grateful for the support of my teachers. These results have further motivated me to pursue my ambition of studying medicine. I am excited to embark on my next steps at Strathallan’s Sixth Form, where I will be studying Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at A Level."

Also celebrating a fantastic set results today was Rose C, who told us, "I was really pleased with my results this year, especially in French, which has taken a lot of practice, and also Art, as I had put a lot of time and care into my sketchbooks. I am incredibly excited to be taking A-Level Classics, History, Psychology, and Art this year, as I can’t wait to be studying what I most enjoy!"

Another pupil delighted with today’s results is Team GB's Nordic Skier, Hamish B, who commented: "I’m really pleased with my results, but especially proud of my 8 in Art and Design, which I studied in Art Club and in my spare time. I’m so grateful to my art teachers for supporting me and making that possible. My goal is to study Engineering, then join the Army Royal Engineers, so strong Maths and Physics results were a nice confidence boost that I’m on the right path."

"I’m now moving to A-Level Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and Design Technology. GCSEs meant that my cross-country ski training had to take a back seat this year, so I’m looking forward to my first FIS race season this winter with no immediate exams on the horizon!"

These results mean this year’s GCSE cohort are exceptionally well placed as they progress into Sixth Form at Strathallan. We look forward to welcoming them back next week as the new school year begins - ready to take on fresh challenges and new opportunities with confidence.
